March Weather and Diving

Just as in 2025, 2024 and 2023 we experienced quite a few windy days in March 2026. The wind made for a welcome relief from
the heat. Having said that, just as in 2025, March 2026 was not as hot as the previous 2 years.
We had 29 really sunny days and 2 partially sunny, so not much cloudcover, on 1 of those some rain during the day with a heavy shower in the morning.
We did no overcast days. March 2026 was an excellent month: lots of sun with a welcoming breeze.
But as mentioned the wind was stronger than we often see in March.
In March 2011 we had highly unusual five days where we were limited in dive destinations and two days where there was
no diving possible at all of the normal destinations. March 2012 was in this respect back to normal, with 2 days no
diving at our housereef in Kata possible and on 1 day the wind was too strong for diving at Racha Noi and Richelieu
Rock. In 2013 we could dive at all destinations every day of the week, in 2014 on 2 days no diving at Richelieu Rock
and in 2015, 2016 and 2017 on 1 day no diving in the Shark Point area or at Richelieu Rock. In 2018, 2019, 2020 and
2021 we could dive at all destinations on all days. However due to the Covid 19 problems there were not many people
around especially in 2021, improving diving conditions even further. In 2020 authorities banned all diving activities, first from the
boat, later also from the beaches, so for quite a few days there was no diving at all possible. In 2022 on 4 days we
could not dive at Kata Beach, and on a few more days diving was possible but not very nice. In 2023 on 4 days we could not
safely dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area and also not at Kata Beach. In 2024 on all days we could safely dive in the
King Cruiser-Shark Point area, one 1 days we could not dive at our house reef at Kata Beach. This year we could dive all
destinations every day of the month, except for 2 days when no shorediving was possible and we were with the boat limited to Racha Noi and Racha Yai.
