December Weather and Diving

After a windy December 2022 and 2023 with also more rain than usual and less sun, December 2024 and 2025 were again the nice month it is
supposed to be. After the unusually bad November 2025, we really needed this. We had about average 20 really sunny days and 11 partly sunny days. We had no overcast days and/or wet days.
Also rainfall was below average with only 2 days with a little bit of rain during the day and 4 with a bit at night.
Temperatures were very comfortable in the low thirties every day with a nice cool seabreeze. Not too warm or humid.
All in all it was a nice month. Sea temperatures were as normal around 28-29 degrees Centigrade at our local sites, a bit lower out at Similans but nothing extreme.
With 11 days with a moderate or strong wind we no days where the wind affected diving.
This means that this year we could dive at all destinations on all days.
In 2024 on 8 days we could not safely and comfortably dive at our housereef at Kata beach and on 2 days not in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area.
In 2023 we exceptionally on 8 days could not dive at Kata Beach and on 7 days we could not dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area.
In 2022 on 10 days we could not dive at our housereef and in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area and on 2 more days we had bad conditions
at Kata Beach. In 2022 on 1 day we even could only dive at Racha Noi and Racha Yai.
In 2021 dive at all destinations on all days, although conditions at the housereef were not really good on 3 days.
In 2020 we could on only 1 day not comfortably dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area, in 2019 that happened on
2 days. On one day conditions at the housereef were unsafe, on a few more days due to rain runoff visibility was
really bad. In 2018 on all days we could dive at all destinations. In 2017 on 2 days we could not dive in the
King Cruiser-Shark Point area, on 5 days we could no safely and comfortably reach Richelieu Rock and on 2 days we
could not dive at the housereef. In 2016 on 1 day we were limited to Racha Yai and on 1 other day we could not dive
at our housereef here in Kata Beach, in 2015 we could not dive in the Shark point area for 5 consecutive days,
in 2014 we were on 1 day limited to Racha Yai, on 1 day we could besides Racha Yai also reach Phi Phi and on 1 day
there was no diving possible in the Shark Point area and Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock, in 2013 we could reach
all divesites including our housereef here in Kata safely every day.
