June Weather and Diving

Unlike the most recent years, the weather this June was not so nice. Of course we did have our fair share of sun,
but 6 sunny days is below average and 8 overcast days is above average. We also saw 13 days with at least some rain during
the day which is also above average. The temperature was also above average, which is not good news for the corals.
There has been some bleaching, at the moment it looks like this is still reverable, so hopefully with the cooler temperatures
at the moment and also the waters having cooled down, we'll soon see the corals getting back to their former glory.
Very important for diving here is the wind. Whereas in recent years we did not have much wind at all, this year
was below average with 18 days with a moderate or strong wind. In 2019 and 2018 we were limited in destinations on 5 days,
where we could only dive at Racha Noi and Racha Yai, both in 2021 and in 2020 we could safely and comfortably reach all
destinations, in 2022 on 1 day we were limited to Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 3 days we could not safely and comfortably
dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Poijnt area, last year on 5 days we could not safely and comfortably dive in the King Cruiser-
Shark Poijnt area.
This year on 3 days we could not safely and comfortably dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area, on 5 days we were limited
to Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 2 days to Racha Yai only.
In 2018 we were on 5 days limited to Racha Yai and on 2 days we could not go to the King Cruiser-
Shark Point area. In 2017 we could reach all destinations on every day, in 2016 we were limited in our diving on 2
days to Racha Yai, on 2 days we could not go to the Shark Point area and on 1 day we could not go to the Shark point
area or Racha Noi. In 2015 on 1 day only diving was not safely possible in the Shark Point area, on all other days we
could dive safely at all destinations. In 2014 on three days diving was restricted to Racha Yai and on two days we
could only dive at our alternate destination of Coral Island.
