September Weather and Diving

September 2023 - 2022 - 2021 - 2020 - 2019 - 2018 - 2017 - 2016 - 2015 - 2014 -2013

September 2021, 2022 and this year were below average, far from as nice as the really good September 2019 and September 2018: some sun, but more than average overcast days and just as last year an exceptional number of days with a moderate or strong wind.

Very important for diving in the area is the wind, and this was not very good with only 9 days with just a slight breeze. On 9 of the days with a strong wind we were limited to Racha Yai only, on 7 of those day to Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 2 more days we could not dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area.

In 2022 on 2 days we were limited to Racha Yai, on 4 days to Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 11 days we could not dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area. In 2021 on 1 day we were limited to Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 5 days we could not dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area. In 2020 on 3 days we could not go out and on 1 day we could not safely dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area. In 2019 on 1 day we were limited to Racha Yai, and on 1 day we could not reach the King Cruiser-Shark Point area safely and comfortably. In 2018 on 4 days we could only dive at Racha Yai, on 1 day at Racha Noi and Racha Yai and on 1 day we could dive everywhere except for King Cruiser-Shark Point area. In 2017 on 6 days we could only dive at Racha Yai and on 2 days we could not dive in the King Cruiser-Shark Point area, in 2016 on 1 day we could only dive at Racha Yai and on 4 days we could not dive in the Shark Point area, in 2015 on 2 days we could only dive at Racha Yai and on 5 days we could not dive in the Shark Point area but were able to dive at Phi Phi and Racha Noi, in 2014 on 2 days we could only dive at our alternate destination of Coral Island, on 1 day only at Racha Yai Island and on 3 days no diving at Racha Noi and Shark Point area. In September 2013 we could on four days not dive at Racha Noi, on one day we were limited to Phi Phi and Racha Yai and on two days we were limited to diving at Racha Yai Island.

All in all, September 2023 was a below average September.
