August 2011 started excellent with lots of sunny days and a slight breeze. Towards the end of the month though we had some windy and wet days. All in all this means that we experienced more overcast days than in the previous years, and the amount of rain was very high. Most of the rain fell in the night, but also during the day we had some very heavy rainshowers.
With a slight breeze the weather was most of the time good for diving, we experienced just five days with strong winds.
It was again a bit cooler than in some previous years, which was excellent for the health of the corals. There were quite a few sightings of a couple of whalesharks, mainly near the Bida Islands in the Phi Phi area but also in the Shark point area.
Because of the strong wind on one day we could only dive at Coral Island, and on two other days we could not go to the Shark Point or Phi Phi areas.
